Inside Our World....
Leslea Ellis, LLC is supporting the Kiwanis Club of Fort Myers Metro-McGregor by collecting books for patients at All Children's Outpatient Center in Fort Myers.  The books will be presented at the Club-sponsored annual holiday party on December 13th.  Donations of new books for children ages 2-12 may be dropped off at Leslea Ellis, LLC from now until December 6th between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday-Friday. 

In December, Leslea Ellis, LLC staff will be cooking up some holiday spirit by preparing a meal for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of SWFL Thank you to United Way's Days of Caring program for coordinating our service project!

Same-Sex Couples to
Receive Tax Benefits

 

The Department of Treasury and the IRS issued a ruling last year in response to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act. The ruling gives same-sex couples the right to certain benefits and protections under federal tax laws.

 

Based on the ruling, legally married same-sex couples will be treated as married for federal tax purposes, regardless of whether or not they live in a state that recognizes same-sex marriage. All federal tax provisions where marriage is a factor are impacted including filing status, exemptions, standard deductions, employee benefits, IRA contributions, tax credits, and gift and estate taxes. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Florida Gulf Coast University offers guidance and resources to help Southwest Florida's small business community grow. Certified Business Analysts, employed by the SBDC, consult one-on-one with new and existing entrepreneurs at all stages of development.
